Future Synopsis and Global Identification
It is clear that the nature of Reality is far more complex and richly layered than we have historically been lead to believe. Most of what we were taught in school regarding the Nature of the Universe has since been expanded upon greatly, and in many cases never taught to begin with. This sprouting phenomenon is beyond mere intellectual speculation; It is nothing short of a massive revolution in human perception, knowledge and manifestation. Any intelligent, open individual who does the proper research should expect to reach a similar conclusion-- thus gaining an understanding in contemporary Philosophy, Physics, Astronomy, Biology, Ecology, Entheogenic Experience, Spirituality, Technology etc. My own philosophical interest lies in the apprehension and consolidation of the multidisciplinary patterns which are now evolving [revealing themselves] and then taking appropriate action within this new structure.
The theory of what these new, evolving structures will be like is still hazy, but it appears that Human Reality on Earth will reach some kind of cresendo within the next 10 to 40 years. Different schools of thought place this Event at different points in the future, from 2012 onwards. I am not overly keen on prophecy, and thus keep my opinion flexible over the specifics.
Human Reality is beginning to shift into a new [higher] realm as sectors of the human population gain new levels of awareness. This is a result of both Ourselves and our Environment increasing in complexity (such as through technology or cultural advancement) and in general Understanding. This type of awareness is now spreading globally, and thus our human Reality is sewing itself together more rapidly than ever before. The leading edge of human-mediated Reality is complexifying, learning and evolving at an astounding, unprecedented rate.
All of the "Problems of the World" are potentially solvable, since modern problems are fundamentally a matter of psychology. The global mind is a fractal reflection of the individual mind and vice-versa. Psychology is the key to overcoming virtually all the obstacles that the human race faces in the near future (war, violence, poverty, hunger etc.) People who are alive today have the dubious honour of being the last batch of humans before human culture is transformed. We are stradling two worlds right now. It is quite literally a make-it-or-break-it situation. It is a run through the Gauntlet, a Renaissance, and a birthing process.
The Old Paradigm is beginning to crack and I would hope that it falls with a certain measure of grace. The immediate future will bring much oppression and bloodshed worldwide; This seems certain based on the existing geopolitical climate and the agenda of those currently in power. However, I believe this to be a transitory period, and the severity of the conflict can be controlled through sustained effort. Those who are convinced the world is doomed to imminent (and perpetual) hell and darkness have not considered [experienced] all the data.
Big Brother, impoverished ecosystems, nuclear winter, paranoia, terrorist rage, endless war: these things are not necessary. I have faith that Evolution does not stop for idiots, and therefore these counterproductive forms will eventually burn away as the Earth evolves. Evolution is a purposeful juggernaut. There is ample cause for optimism. We have to trust that the whole system will not collapse until our localized sector of galactic evolution [Earth] is given a fair chance to assimilate and overcome the problems, thus moving to the next level of organization and Universal manifestation.
Old social, cultural, political, and economic forms have been given notice: either evolve with the system or get dumped [extinction]. In the realm of Ideology, tread lightly and stay fluid like water. Be careful what you believe, since the World is changing very swiftly. The future is far too complex and thus difficult to predict with any certainty, but one thing is for certain: we're going for a ride, so find a friend and hang on.
My good fortune, and also my problem, is that I have come to identify my sense of Self with the Earth. If the Earth as a whole prospers, I will similarly be prosperous. If the Earth --and her animal, plant and human inhabitants-- is destroyed through human conflict and ignorance, I will also be destroyed. By identifying with the Whole, to a certain degree I share the same fate as the Whole. Self preservation always demands a response when things start to go badly-- a response that is appropriate to the conditions in which I find myself as an individual. I do not frame such a massively complex issue in terms of "saving the whole world". It is more a matter of taking responsible, intelligent, intentional action that will benefit the global [local] Reality to some degree, using the tools at my disposal.
