Salvia Divinorum

"The word weird has been recalibrated for me."

Salvia Divinorum is a relatively obscure psychoactive plant from Mexico. It is known to have been used by certain native communities for hundreds of years for divination and healing.

Salvia's active ingredient is called Salvinorin-A (released when the plant's leaves are smoked or chewed) and it is one of the most powerful naturally-occuring mind affecting substances known.

That being said, this plant is certainly not for the casual thrill-seeker. The dream-like state that Salvia induces can produce the most powerful, bizarre & reality-shattering experiences this side of the grave. (you think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not... ;)

Salvia Divinorum is not known to have any toxic side-effects. It is also legal to grow and own over most of the world. Although I've heard that Australia (of all places) has recently made it illegal-- Go War on Drugs! (but hell, it was bound to happen). Anyway, it is a plant worthy of utmost respect.

I'll direct you to a great Salvia website if you wish to learn more:

The experiences of people under the influence of Salvia are some of the most incredible stories I've ever read. These are true fairytales into the depths of the human mind and they liberally stretch our concepts of the nature of reality. If you'd like a sample of Salvia trip reports, I have compiled some clips from a bunch of experience reports. Since I did some editing of the original text, I'd suggest reading the full reports (explore the Links section for great trip report resources, especially at the Lycaeum and Erowid), but this should get you started...
